12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026 – A Grand Celebration of Growth, Unity, and Innovation

The 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026, held in February at the prestigious Biswa Bangla Convention Centre , was a landmark event that showcased the remarkable progress and unity of the poultry sector in Eastern India. This grand fair , organized by the West Bengal Poultry Federation, not only reinforced Kolkata’s growing prominence as a poultry hub in South Asia but also created a powerful platform for innovation, knowledge exchange, and stakeholder collaboration.

Inauguration Ceremony: A Grand Opening

The inauguration ceremony of the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026 was held with grandeur at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre , Kolkata. The inaugural function was presided over by Sri Swapan Debnath, Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Animal Resources Development Department, Government of West Bengal . The ceremony was further graced by Shri Vivek Kumar, IAS, Hon'ble Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Land and Land Reforms & Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation and Animal Resources Development, Government of West Bengal, who attended as the Guest of Honour.

The occasion was enriched by the presence of several eminent personalities from government, academia, and the poultry industry. Distinguished Special Guests included Dr . Exhibition Highlights: Connecting Markets, Technologies, and Ideas

The exhibition was one of the largest ever witnessed in Eastern India, drawing an impressive 25,000+ visitors, including poultry farmers , entrepreneurs, researchers, and stakeholders from West Bengal, other Indian states, and neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh , Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, China and also from South Africa. More than just a trade fair, this event served as a powerful venue to showcase new technologies, farm solutions, equipment, feed innovations, and processing techniques.

Through interactive stalls, sponsorship opportunities, souvenir promotions, and B2B forums, the fair facilitated knowledge transfer and business linkages . The sharp rise in international participation reaffirmed Kolkata’s status as a gateway to South Asia’s poultry industry. Investors and producers were particularly drawn to the fair's focused approach on modernizing poultry operations and strengthening backward and forward linkages.


NOVACON 2026: A Landmark International Conference Driving Innovation in the Poultry Industry

As a major highlight of the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026, the West Bengal Poultry Federation successfully organized NOVACON (Conference on Innovation) , a prestigious full-day international technical seminar dedicated to innovation in the poultry business. Held on 10th February 2026 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre , New Town, Kolkata, the conference witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 800 delegates participating from across India and abroad.

Bringing together renowned scientists, industry leaders, policymakers, academicians, veterinarians, entrepreneurs, and progressive poultry farmers , NOVACON emerged as one of the most significant knowledge-sharing platforms for the poultry sector. The conference showcased the latest scientific advancements, innovative technologies, and emerging business strategies that are shaping the future of the global poultry industry.

Curated by the West Bengal Poultry Federation, NOVACON was conceived with the vision of bridging the gap between scientific research and practical field applications . The seminar encouraged meaningful interactions between researchers, policymakers, and poultry stakeholders, enabling participants to exchange ideas, discuss current industry challenges, and explore innovative solutions for sustainable growth. Through this initiative, the Federation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting modernization , technological adoption, enhanced productivity, and long-term sustainability within the poultry sector.

Student Zone: Empowering the Next Generation

A visionary addition to this year’s fair was the Student Zone, an initiative that aimed to educate and inspire the future leaders of the poultry sector . With participation from 20+ colleges and over 1,200 students and teachers, this zone became a hub of interaction between academia and industry . Professors from WBUAFS and other experts engaged students in discussions on the science and business of poultry, highlighting career paths , entrepreneurship opportunities, and emerging technologies.

The Student Zone stood out as a talent discovery platform and reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to nurturing skilled manpower for a sustainable poultry future.


February 12 Technical Seminar: Insightful Deliberations on modern Poultry Practices

The 2nd Day Technical Seminar of the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026, held on 12th February 2026 at Hall-7, Level 1 , Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Newtown, Kolkata, brought together poultry farmers, veterinarians, academicians, researchers, and industry professionals for a day of technical learning and knowledge exchange. The seminar focused on emerging technologies, disease prevention , farm management, and human resource development in the poultry sector.

The programme commenced with Dr. Senjuti Kar, Zonal Manager, Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., who welcomed the delegates and moderated the technical sessions . The first scientific presentation was delivered by Dr. Ajay Kumar Chouhan, Technical Manager, Kemin Industries South Asia Pvt. Ltd., on "Terminal Disinfection of Poultry Farm," where he emphasized the importance of effective sanitation and biosecurity in preventing disease outbreaks.

This was followed by Dr. Rajeeb Kumar Roy, Head – Technical Services, RR Animal Healthcare Ltd., who presented on "Fly, Mosquito & Darkling Beetle Control in Broiler Farm," highlighting integrated pest management strategies to improve flock health and farm productivity.

Dr. Shashikant Shivarkar, AGM (Technical Services), Venkateshwara Hatcheries Pvt. Ltd., Ventrili Biological Division, delivered an informative session on "Poultry Vaccination – Importance & Administration," stressing the critical role of scientifically planned vaccination programmes in disease prevention.

The pre-lunch session concluded with Dr. Uddhab Sarkar, GM, Shalimar Group of Companies, who spoke on the "Concept of EC Farm for Broiler Farming," explaining modern approaches to efficient and sustainable broiler production.

Following the lunch break, Dr. Sangeeta Das from the College of Veterinary Sciences, Assam Agricultural University, presented an insightful lecture on the "ND Thermostable Vaccine," highlighting its advantages in enhancing Newcastle disease control, particularly under field conditions.

The final technical session was delivered by Dr. Arindam Chatterjee, Founding Partner & Management Consultant, Sonari Consulting and Vice President – Strategy , Marketing & Technology, Optima Life Sciences, on "Human Capital Management in Contract Broiler Farming." His presentation emphasized the importance of skilled manpower , leadership, and efficient workforce management in ensuring the long-term success of contract farming operations.

The seminar concluded with an engaging Interactive Question & Answer Session, where participants exchanged ideas with the experts. The technical seminar was widely appreciated for its practical relevance and reaffirmed the commitment of the West Bengal Poultry Federation to promoting scientific advancement, innovation , and sustainable growth in the poultry industry.


Pan India Broiler Coordination Committee (PIBCC) Meeting Strengthens National Poultry Coordination at the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026

A significant milestone of the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026 was the meeting of the Pan India Broiler Coordination Committee (PIBCC) , held on 11 February 2026 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, New Town, Kolkata. The meeting brought together leading poultry industry representatives from across the country to deliberate on production planning, market coordination, disease management, consumer promotion and long-term strategies for the sustainable growth of India's broiler sector.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Vasanth Kumar Reddy, Convenor of PIBCC, and hosted by Mr. Madan Mohan Maity, General Secretary of the West Bengal Poultry Federation (WBPF) . Among the distinguished participants were Mr. Sameer Agarwal (West Bengal), Dr. H.M. Das (Odisha), Dr. Vidyasagar Punja, Mr. Niren Das (Assam), Dr. Saikia (Assam) , Mr. Pawan Kumar (Bihar), Dr. Venkatesh (Suguna Foods), along with representatives from Tamil Nadu, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh , Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala, besides veterinarians, integrators and industry stakeholders.

In his welcome address, Mr. Maity highlighted WBPF's remarkable journey since its establishment in 2009, noting a 140% growth in broiler production , a transparent daily rate declaration mechanism and sustained promotional initiatives such as National Chicken Day, which have significantly contributed to increasing poultry consumption in West Bengal. He encouraged other states to adopt similar coordinated approaches to production, pricing and consumer awareness.

The deliberations focused on strengthening inter-state coordination through transparent sharing of production, placement and market data. State representatives presented their respective market scenarios, discussing production capacities, pricing mechanisms, disease challenges and consumer preferences. Special emphasis was placed on the need for disciplined production planning, scientific disease surveillance and improved diagnostic infrastructure to ensure long-term market stability.

A unanimous consensus emerged that sustained growth of the poultry industry depends not only on production discipline but also on expanding consumer demand . Participants proposed nationwide awareness campaigns, uniform celebration of National Chicken Day, Pan India Egg & Chicken Cooking Competitions , greater engagement with medical professionals and educational institutions, and coordinated efforts to counter misinformation regarding poultry products.

Adding further value to the discussions, Dr. Sadanand Singh delivered an insightful presentation on poultry processing, highlighting its role in value addition , employment generation and market stabilization. The meeting also reviewed the NECC Egg & Chicken Cart Initiative, aimed at strengthening grassroots promotion of eggs and chicken across the country.

The meeting concluded with a proposal by Mr. Maity to formally register PIBCC and establish a structured funding mechanism for national promotional activities . Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Sameer Agarwal acknowledged the contributions of all participants and reaffirmed the industry's collective commitment to stronger coordination, sustainable growth and the guiding principle that has become synonymous with PIBCC—"My Chicken, My Price."


Eastern India Poultry Development Forum (EIPDF) Meeting: A Vision for Regional Integration

A major milestone of the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026 was the meeting of the Eastern India Poultry Development Forum (EIPDF) , where representatives from Eastern and Northeastern states came together to strengthen regional cooperation and chart a unified roadmap for the sustainable growth of the poultry sector. During the meeting, a new EIPDF Executive Committee was unanimously constituted, bringing together representatives from all participating states to ensure broader regional representation and coordinated action.

Dr. Pawan Kumar was elected as the President of the Forum, while Mr. Madan Mohan Maity was unanimously elected as the General Secretary . In addition, Vice Presidents, Assistant Secretaries, and State Representatives from each participating state were selected to form a comprehensive leadership structure that will guide the Forum's future initiatives.

The newly formed committee reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inter-state collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated policy advocacy for the poultry industry. Deliberations focused on strengthening regional poultry development through improved institutional support, enhanced coordination among member states, exchange of technical expertise, and collective efforts to address common challenges . The Forum resolved to hold regular coordination meetings and work towards building a strong, self-reliant, and globally competitive poultry sector across Eastern and Northeastern India.


Ceremonial Dinner: Celebrating Culture and Unity

The ceremonial dinner, held on February 12 at the Biswa Bangla Exhibition Centre, was a vibrant celebration of culture and fellowship . The evening featured a captivating musical performance by renowned singer Rafa Yeasmin, followed by an energetic and colourful Bihu dance performance by a cultural troupe from Assam. Showcasing the rich artistic heritage of the region, the programme reflected the unity , diversity, and cultural vibrancy of Eastern and Northeastern India, adding an unforgettable dimension to the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026.


NextGen Conclave: Empowering the Future of Poultry

The NextGen Conclave, held on 13th February 2026 during the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre , marked a significant initiative to engage the next generation of poultry professionals. The conclave witnessed enthusiastic participation from young entrepreneurs, second-generation poultry business owners, and aspiring industry leaders.

The interactive session provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, explore emerging opportunities, and connect with experienced industry leaders . Focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship, and the future of poultry farming, the conclave encouraged young minds to take forward the legacy of the industry with fresh perspectives and modern business practices.

Closing Ceremony: Gratitude and New Beginnings

The 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026 concluded with a memorable closing ceremony graced by Sri Biplab Roy Chowdhury, Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge , Department of Fisheries, Government of West Bengal, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he commended the efforts of the West Bengal Poultry Federation and all stakeholders in strengthening the poultry sector and fostering regional cooperation.

The ceremony was led by General Secretary Mr. Madan Mohan Maity, who presented a comprehensive summary of the fair’s major achievements and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the exhibitors, delegates, sponsors, staff, volunteers, and supporters whose collective efforts ensured the grand success of the event . Awards were presented to outstanding stall owners in recognition of excellence in stall design, presentation, and ambiance, while vendors and support teams were felicitated for their dedicated service and valuable contributions throughout the fair. As a mark of appreciation, Mr. Maity presented Uttorios to the organizing team and key contributors, acknowledging their commitment and hard work. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving participants with a renewed commitment to advancing the poultry industry through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth across Eastern and Northeastern India.
